Website Redesign Cost in Vancouver: What Businesses Should Expect

Replacing a website involves decisions about what already works. The best brief makes room for the existing content, search visibility and customer flows that deserve to survive.

A redesign should begin with a review

Before asking how much the redesign costs, ask what it needs to fix. Is the design dated? Is the offer difficult to understand? Are forms failing? Can your team update the pages? Those are different problems, and a complete rebuild may not be the right answer to every one of them.

Review the current website on a phone, follow the main contact path and make an inventory of its pages. If you have analytics or Search Console access, identify the pages people actually visit and the searches bringing them there. Without that evidence, replacing every page is a guess.

For Vancouver website redesigns, we want to understand both the visible experience and the underlying implementation. A useful scope distinguishes what to preserve from what to replace.

Three different kinds of redesign

A way to discuss scope, rather than a fixed pricing menu
ApproachTypical work to clarify
Focused improvementRefine copy, navigation, contact flow or a small number of layouts on a suitable platform.
Design and content rebuildRework the visual experience and page hierarchy, then develop and populate the new site.
Platform migrationMove content and functionality to a different system, with URL mapping and integration checks.

A visual refresh can be appropriate when the foundation is sound. A platform change may be justified when the current system prevents needed functionality or is difficult to maintain. Ask the provider to explain why the proposed approach solves the problem rather than assuming a new framework is the result you need.

The work visitors do not see still matters

Existing URLs, downloadable files, forms, booking links and integrations need an inventory. Decide which pages keep their addresses, which are combined and which need redirects to an appropriate replacement.

Google’s site migration guidance describes URL mapping and redirects when URLs change. A migration plan reduces avoidable disruption; it does not guarantee unchanged rankings. Put that work in the quote, alongside the design and development.

  • Record existing URLs and the intended destination for each change.
  • Retain useful content unless there is a clear reason to remove it.
  • Test inquiry forms and important integrations on the new environment.
  • Check canonical URLs, metadata, sitemap and indexing settings.
  • Keep access to the existing site until the launch and recovery plan are agreed.

Why the budget can exceed a new small site

A redesign inherits constraints. There may be years of content to review, a platform to learn, customer-facing links to preserve and several people who need to approve changes. The amount of migration work can matter more than the visible page count.

To compare costs, ask for separate descriptions of the review, content work, design, development, migration and launch support. Our website cost guide explains how to compare those deliverables without treating every advertised package as equivalent.

Keep what gives the business its character

If customers recognise the photography, typography or overall design language, preserving it can be the right decision. A redesign can improve the message and usability while keeping a visual identity that already works.

Look at how a provider discusses its work. The BlvdBuild website project describes positioning, design and development separately. That kind of scope clarity is more useful than an unsupported promise of better conversion.

Tell us about your current website, including the parts you want to keep. We can help decide whether you need a focused improvement or a broader website design and development engagement.

How Much Does a Website Cost in Vancouver?

The useful question is what the quote includes. A focused business site, a considered redesign and a custom platform are different projects — even when they have the same number of pages.

A useful timeline names the work, the decisions and the people responsible. ‘A few weeks’ means very little without knowing when the content is ready and what counts as finished.
